This Painting Records My Inner Conflict

This is my painting process: Play > Narrow into an intention > Rebel against the intention. In other words, a painting that fights against itself. What’s valuable about this is that it includes conflict and harmony, beauty and ugliness. It is an exploration into loving our whole selves—even the parts we reject and try to keep hidden. Here’s an example. It is the eighth iteration of the abstract discovery painting.

Iteration 8. Three feet square. Oil on canvas.

Origin Series Showing at Studio IX

Come see Origin live beginning October 4th at the Studio IX Gallery in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Origin. Go within yourself and be one with the world.
The deeper we go within ourselves, the closer we are to everything else. But are all things truly connected? The Origin collection explores patterns of similarity in nature, love, and conflict. The show invites you to find patterns and connections among the different paintings, and then to gently explore what your findings mean to you.
